What does the test date mean?
The test date is the date on which the activity being assessed actually took place. Normally, this is the date on which the student submitted the work. In the case of an assessment without submission, the test date is the date on which the assessed activity took place. This may involve, for example, a presentation, an oral examination, a thesis defense, or an on-site practical assessment.
The test date is used as part of the recording of the assessment and must therefore correspond to the moment when the activity actually took place.
How is the test date determined?
For an activity in which the student has submitted work, the test date is automatically determined based on the submission date.
If (part of) the submitted work was automatically submitted from another activity, the test date is determined based on the last submission.
In an 'assessment only' activity, it is not possible to automatically determine the test date. In that case, the assessor enters the correct test date themselves.
Why might it be necessary to adjust the test date?
Normally, OnStage automatically determines the test date. However, in some situations, it may be necessary to adjust this date manually. This is only possible for users who have the appropriate rights to do so. Examples of such situations include:
Revising an assessment
When an assessment is revised or re-executed, it may be necessary or desirable to re-record the test date.
Revising submission
If a student needs to resubmit, it may also be necessary to change the examination date.
Assessments based on multiple partial submissions
Some assessments consist of multiple sub-products or partial submissions that were submitted at different times. In that case, the last submission date might not be the correct test date.
If you need to change the test date and have the correct permissions, you do so by clicking on the pencil icon. A popup will then appear allowing you to change the date. If a different date is entered, a reason must also be provided.
Can the test date be in the future?
Normally not. This is because the test date represents an event that has already taken place. Therefore, in most cases, this date will be in the past.
When you enter a test date in the future, OnStage displays a warning. This helps prevent an incorrect date from being recorded accidentally.
A date in the future can be entered intentionally in exceptional situations, but in that case, always check if this is actually the intention.
I cannot change the test date
Adjusting the test date is only available to users who have been granted rights to do so within the educational institution.
Are you unable to change the date, even though you believe it is necessary? Then please contact the key user or functional administrator of your educational institution.
